Tracy Office Stockton Record Dec. 25 - Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Peterman, pioneer West Side residents, will observe their golden wedding anniversary tomorrow with and open house at the home of the son, Walter Peterman, near New Jerusalem School. The Petermans were married December 27, 1887, in Merced and for the past 50 years have resided at the home ranch southeast of here. With the exception of the past nine years, Peterman had been engaged in farming 1500 acres of grain land, but failing heath forced his retirement and the ranch was divided amoung the children. OF LARGE FAMILY Mrs. Peterman, the former D'Etta Watkins, moved here from Chicago with her parents in 1885. She was born June 24, 1867. the Watkins family lived here for many years and then moved to Los Angeles. Mrs. Watkins later returned to live with her daughter until her death in 1933. EIGHT CHILDREN They now reside in their own home hear New Jersulem School, where three generations of Peterman have received schooling. Peterman holds membership in the West Side Pioneers' Lodge. |
D'ETTA PETERMAN PASSES AWAY TUESDAY [Nov. 20] - 1945 Funeral services for Mrs. D'Etta Peterman, widow of the late John Peterman, will be held in Stockton Friday afternoon with Rev. Ralph Crawford, former pastor of the Tracy Methodist church, officiating. Committal will be made at Park View Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Herman Walter, William Koster, Jacob Thoming, Edward Gerlach, Thomas Ohm and Robert Eggers. Mrs. Peterman passed away in Stockton Nov. 20. Born at Sycamore, Ill., on June 24, 1868, she lived in Chicago until 18 when she came to Tracy. In December, 1887, she married John Peterman in Tracy. The family home was on Linne Road. Mr. Petrman passed away in 1938. She was the mother of Mrs. D'Etta Peterman, Stockton; Walter Nathan, Sam, Charles and Henry Peterman, all of Tracy, and Mrs. Elsie Shreck and Mrs. Goldie Hughes, Sacramento. She was the grandmother of MoMM Clifford Willet, US Navy; John Hughes, Stockton; John W. Peterman, US Army; Ray Hughes, US Army; Roger Peterman, Tracy; Rodney Peterman, US Navy; Robert Norris, Stockton, and Mary, Eleanor, Ruth and Mark Peterman, all of Tracy. She was the great grandmother of Heather Williet, John, Manual and James Hughes, Christine, John and Thomas Peterman and Sharon and Robert McBrian. |
